Match v Chelsea Pensioners on 13th August marks the finale to our centenary celebrations

The Chelsea Pensioners are retired British Army veterans who live at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London. They come from various backgrounds across the United Kingdom, and their home is an historic institution dedicated to providing care, camaraderie, and support to those who have served our nation. Bowls is a favourite occupation - and we were delighted to welcome a team on the 13th August.

The result didn't matter - what was important was spending an afternoon with these lovely people and hearing about their experiences. Their Captain, Phil expressed the team's appreciation of the welcome they received and the delicious tea, saying everyone had been very friendly - and it had been their best match of the year so far. There was word of a return match next year.

Five special matches. Five lovely teams of opponents. It has been a great year celebrating the joy of bowls by many over 100 years.

Herts Bowls narrowly win in Centenary Match

In a friendly match against a team with many players we have played against through the season, we enjoyed a close game, with Herts taking the win. The Kings Langley players were each given a Hertfordshire Bowls badge to commemorate the occasion. After the game, we sat together to share a delicious meal.

Centenary match against the Bohemian Bowls Club

13th July saw a team visit Bohemian BC on Fry's Island - requiring a boat to get there as well as a coach. We enjoyed a warm welcome and a fabulous afternoon's bowls.

ABOUT OUR CLUB

Kings Langley Bowls Club was founded in 1925 and has one of the best greens in Hertfordshire.  We have a large clubhouse and run various social functions throughout the year such as quiz nights, whist drives and line dancing.  There is a well stocked bar with competitively priced drinks where members and their guests can socialise.

We are a mixed club with a fixture programme that includes friendly matches against other clubs as well as league matches.  The green is open daily from 11:00am throughout the summer for members who wish to practice or enjoy a game with other members.
